One of the most influential bands of all time performed at Leeds Millennium Square on 11th August 2018. Simple Minds have been many things to many people: sound scapers, sound-shapers, soundtrack makers, serial chart-toppers. They have influenced acts as diverse as the Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Moby and The Horrors. They have been sampled by Nicky Minaj, David Guetta, Joey Negro and Freddy Bastone. They have provided memorable movie moments for directors Christian Carion (L’Affaire Farewell), Gregor Jordan (The Informers), Cameron Crowe (Elizabethtown) and, of course, John Hughes (The Breakfast Club). They have topped the British charts half a dozen times, with the studio albums Sparkle In The Rain (1984), Once Upon A Time (1985) and Street Fighting Years as well as the Ballad Of The Streets EP (both 1989), the concert recording Live In The City Of Light (1987), and the compilation Glittering Prize 81/92, and returned to the UK Top Ten with latest albums Graffiti Soul & Big Music. Simple Minds are (original members) Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill and a selection of talented collaborators including Mel Gaynor, Ged Grimes, Andy Gillespie, Sarah Brown, Gordy Goudie, Catherine AD and Cherisse Osei.

She’s the soul singer and two-time Mercury Prize and Brit Award nominee, with a public endorsement from Prince. Her album The Dreaming Room features collaborations with legend, Nile Rodgers. Laura Mvula first sang in church and later with all female acapella group Black Voices. By 2008 she had formed, and was composing for, her own jazz/neo-soul outfit Judyshouse. Mvula is a graduate of the Birmingham Conservatoire and holds a degree in composition. Her debut album, Sing to the Moon, was released in 2013 and garnered multiple award nominations and critical acclaim. Discussing her follow-up, 2016 album The Dreaming Room, the UK Guardian described how Mvula “pulls the listener along with her through the most serpentine songs: however, winding their routes, the melodies are almost always beautiful; however much the musical scenery shifts, it is always striking.” “Beautiful in voice and soul, lift your eyes skyward and watch this girl soar.” – Clash Magazine

Multi award winning singer and songwriter, Gabrielle performed her many classic hits as well as tracks from her new album ‘Under My Skin’ at Leeds Millennium Square on the 21st July 2018. The release of ‘Under My Skin’ will mark 25 years since the release of her debut Number 1 single, Dreams. This track cemented Gabrielle as one of the most exciting new names in pop music and she will be performing this in Leeds alongside other classics such as If you Ever, When a Woman, Sunshine and Out of Reach.

Grammy award winning, international chart-topping, British music legend Leo Sayer returned to the UK for a special appearances at Holmfirth Picturedome in July 2018. Known the world over for his army of hits which include Thunder In My Heart, Moonlighting, One Man Band, I Can’t Stop Loving You and the transatlantic number ones, When I Need You and and You Make Me Feel Like Dancing. With 16 hit albums and 26 hit singles to his credit, Leo Sayer is one of the most successful acts the UK has ever produced and remains hugely popular worldwide.

Paloma Faith live at York Racecourse on 30th June 2018. With her acclaimed Number 1 album ‘The Architect’ riding high in the charts and a BRIT nomination for Best British Female, Paloma Faith, performed as the headline act for the Summer Music Saturday at York Racecourse on the 30th June as part of what was the three Music and Racing events in 2018.

Let’s Rock Leeds 2018 – The Retro Festival. Let’s Rock! is an 80s family-friendly festival in Leeds. In association with Absolute Radio, the series showcases a lineup of our favourite 80s artists, and have recently included the ABC, Aswad, Nik Kershaw, Bob Geldof, The Real Thing and Marc Almond.

Sparks playing live at the o2 Academy, Leeds. Sparks are an American pop and rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1972 by brothers Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals). The duo formed in 1968 under the name Halfnelson. Known for their quirky approach to song writing,. Sparks’ music is often accompanied by intelligent, sophisticated, and acerbic lyrics and an idiosyncratic, theatrical stage presence, typified in the contrast between Russell’s animated, hyperactive front man antics and Ron’s deadpan scowling. They are also noted for Russell Mael’s distinctive falsetto voice and Ron Mael’s intricate and rhythmic keyboard playing style.

Nils Lofgren – The Royal Hall Harrogate. Celebrating his 50th year of touring professionally, Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame E Street Band Member and solo artist Nils Lofgren makes his first return to the UK in three years for a 15 city tour, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Greg Varlotta.

The Jam live in concert at Brudenell Social Club on the 19th May 2018, Leeds supported by Steve Cradock. The Jam had amazing chart success with 18 singles and 7 albums to make the top 40 in the United Kingdom from their debut in 1977 to their break up in 1982. Their last 5 albums were all top ten hits and their last 8 singles made it into the top 10. They were simply one of the most loved and important bands ever.
